The Costa Brava is one the most famous places of the country and where we can still find beautiful coves where you get lost and enjoy its crystalline waters.
The Costa Brava has a peculiarity in its beaches. Despite of a rocky and wild sea, hence the name “Brava”, suddenly, the landscape softens and suggests great beaches with different textures of sands, without losing value to small coves hidden under the rocks of the coast.
The beaches of Costa Brava are a pleasure for everyone. Beaches lovers will find a paradise devoid of stress and pollution with all the services that could provide us a comfortable stay, as certified by the Blue Flag for many of the local beaches. The Cost offers more of 150 beaches on 200 kilometers of coastline.
Therefore, we give you the top 10 of the most beautiful beaches of Costa Brava:
- Illa Roja Beach
It is considered as one of the beach which is the most photographed of the Costa Brava, it is a unique place.
This is probably the one that offers the greatest range of colors. Bright red of the rocks, all ranges of ocher, and of course, the azure blue of the sky and the sea. This naturist beach is protected by a big red rock, which gives it its name. Illa Roja beach is frequented by locals and tourists who want to tan or like to swim naked. Naturists are here for an intimate small beach (120 meters long and 30 wide)
The beach of Illa Roja is located on a coastal path (Camina rondo) which starts from the Pals beach to the cove of Sa Riera. The path borrows the cliffs and allows for great views over the Medes Islands, the hill of Begur, the bay of Sa Riera and of course the rock of Illa Roja.
Illa Roja remains ones of the most beautiful coves of the region, and is a place where you can easily try Naturism.
- Beach of Castell
Nature and history combined. Castell beach is a few meters from the Iberian village of Castell and, of course, built in the space of natural interest of Castell-Cap Roig. Built in an area of natural interest of 100 ha. At the mouth of the channel Aubi.
In a natural environment with a length of 300 meters and a wide of 50 meters. Of fine sand, surrounded by pine forest. Pine trees are part of the landscape, regardless of where one puts his eyes. Although limited by distance from the city center, this beach offers a number of services. Including a kayak school and walkways for the disables, among others. In addition to diving, a walk in this area is highly recommended. There is ample parking near, paying in summer.
The Castell beach, in Palamos, is the ideal place to go in summer: a beautiful cove to spend the day with family or friends… In winter, you can also follow the sea, still beautiful, and make a trip to Iberian village which is just next door. Watching the sun goes down at this place is a real pleasure.
- Calla Tavallera Beach
Located in the natural park of Cap de Creus, there is a cove at the end of a long sea that sinks in the land. This gives a special character that invites many boats from the port of Selva or Cadaquès, to drop anchor. Getting there by sea is notably one of the most recommendable alternatives because road access is very difficult. The other alternative is going by foot.
There are approximately two hours of walk following the GR-11 path, and signposted to Cala Sant Baldiri and Tavallera. The tour, when sinking into the park and its curious rock formations, worth seeing but it is long. On the side of the beach, which is about 135 meters and combines the thick sand and gravel, there are still some typical fisherman’s huts.
- Cala Aiguablava Beach
His name can not fool us. Cala aiguablava (blue water) is a range of fine golden sand with blue water with shallow water. Located in the south of the port of Fornells, it is also the last beach of the south of Begur. The cove is very well conditioned and access is very easy. It has ample parking in the entry of the area.
The beach is 75 meters long and 25 meters wide. Is offers shower services. The cove is surrounded by woods, and has a privileged geographical position as it allows admiring the imposing Cap of Begur and the mountains that surround he village.
The north of the creek in the other direction begins, after a succession of small coves and harbors, the walkway that leads to the port of Fornells.
- Cadaqués Beach
Cadaqués beach attracts tourists first of all for its clear water. The position of Cadaqués, in the bottom of a deep bay, protects the village from the excesses of Tramontana, the north wind, cold and dry, likely to blow hard into the area, below the mountains. What we are reassured, it usually does well in hot season and climate of Cadaques lends itself fully to days at the beach.
And they do not lack, there are many on the main beach, composed of coarse grey sand, lined his walk: Cafes, leisure and entertainment are provided there. It offers easy access to the sea, but soon finds himself crowded due to a relative small size. Other nearby beaches is the largest on the north and south, we cross a series of small sandy coves where we put towels. A multitude of small boats litter the sand. Clean sand is something inadequate, and its gray color does nothing to enhance this impression.
The plot of the coastline is cut, and in some places, the sea is all rocky:
Access to water is more difficult, but the tranquility is assured.
- Gola del Ter beach
Gola Ter River, also known as the beach of Fonorella, in the municipality of Torroelle, is one of the quietest and most evocative landscapes of the Costa Brava. Of great ecological interest, it forms a very long beach of fine golden sand, protected from all forms of modern human construction. In this article we will tell you how to get there and points of interest to see.
Finally a wild beach! Or almost. Along dunes that once connected Estarit Pals in the south has been fragmented by agriculture and urbanization. Little places remains intact. The natural reserve of Aiguamolls Del Baix Ter (named after the nearby river ter) aims to restore and preserve the dune area.
Since we can not have everything, this range of Gola del ter offers no other benefits than those that nature has preserved him long endless shore, dunes that can only touch the eyes and lively sea with fairly strong currents (careful, the beach is not supervised) and nice waves for body boarders.
Natural balances add to the authenticity of this range, natural interlude between tracks deep draft tourist water Estartit Pals north and south.
