The Costa Brava is one the most famous places of the country and where we can still find beautiful coves where you get lost and enjoy its crystalline waters.

The Costa Brava has a peculiarity in its beaches. Despite of a rocky and wild sea, hence the name “Brava”, suddenly, the landscape softens and suggests great beaches with different textures of sands, without losing value to small coves hidden under the rocks of the coast.

The beaches of Costa Brava are a pleasure for everyone. Beaches lovers will find a paradise devoid of stress and pollution with all the services that could provide us a comfortable stay, as certified by the Blue Flag for many of the local beaches. The Cost offers more of 150 beaches on 200 kilometers of coastline.

Therefore, we give you the top 10 of the most beautiful beaches of Costa Brava:

  1. Illa Roja Beach

La plage D’Illa RojaIt is considered as one of the beach which is the most photographed of the Costa Brava, it is a unique place.

This naturist beach is protected by a big red rock, which gives it its name. Illa Roja beach is frequented by locals and tourists who want to tan or like to swim naked. Naturists are here for an intimate small beach (120 meters long and 30 wide)

The beach of Illa Roja is located on a coastal path (Camina rondo) which starts from the Pals beach to the cove of Sa Riera. The path borrows the cliffs and allows for great views over the Medes Islands, the hill of Begur, the bay of Sa Riera and of course the rock of Illa Roja.

There are approximately two hours of walk following the GR-11 path, and signposted to Cala Sant Baldiri and Tavallera. The tour, when sinking into the park and its curious rock formations, worth seeing but it is long. On the side of the beach, which is about 135 meters and combines the thick sand and gravel, there are still some typical fisherman’s huts.

And they do not lack, there are many on the main beach, composed of coarse grey sand, lined his walk: Cafes, leisure and entertainment are provided there. It offers easy access to the sea, but soon finds himself crowded due to a relative small size. Other nearby beaches is the largest on the north and south, we cross a series of small sandy coves where we put towels. A multitude of small boats litter the sand.
